The willingness to give up your own values, morals, and interests for the sake of the relationship, in order to keep your partner happy, is in my opinion self-destructive. When you are desperate for a relationship with another, you can fall into a pattern of repeatedly giving up your own needs, until you have no life of your own left. This is not a perfect world, nor will it ever become a perfect world. We will always have relationships that will fail.
