Description

Arnold said that poetry is a criticism of life, and it interprets life for us, sustains us and consoles us. Poetry can come to rescue man, showing him new vistas to explore which he often tends to overlook due to the circumstances driven life.
It serves the purpose of both the writer and the reader. On the one hand the writer attempts to give vent to the ardently felt feelings and observations and on the other hand the reader reflects and builds on the frame work presented by the writer.
The saying “Poetry is emotions recollected in tranquility” goes unquestioned.
The first thin volume named The Silent Storm is a collection of 16 poems on diverse topics from contemporary to philosophical. My observation of men and manners, societal transformation etc. which is limited to my exposure is penned and presented.
The inspiration for the poem Voice of the Wandering Minds is my profession i.e. teaching. Many a times the students are left in the lurch after spending invaluable time pursuing a course as the employment sector is dynamic, needs are never constant. Though I understand and appreciate change as imminent, the students hailing from economically background families suffer in the hands of fate. Ever-since the commercialization of education, it is not just the IQ or EQ which is crucial, but more predominantly the financial status of the father/parents that decides the career graph and destination of a student. May be my understanding of the situation is limited to India, because of the limited exposure. Mind Made Manacles is an expression about how a man is born free but in chains every where. Though we talk about freedom in different forms like freedom of expression etc. we never bother to free our-self from the pretense and sham.the real liberation lies in freeing oneself from attachment and negative traits like jeolousy, hatred, greed, etc. This are mental bondage which have to be broken, or else they will breed stagnating, vegetating our life like pests. The poem Live Life King-size captures the how mechanical the life has become, madly chasing satisfaction in success. Not limiting this to them-self, parents thrust this on the children and they become the scapegoat. Most of the times, before the child starts dreaming the dreams are crushed. Father wants son to top the list, mother expects 90+percentile but about the child what does he want? What kind of love and concern is this, where the child is denied freedom? In this poem an attempt is made to reflect on the typical Indian set-up in the present society, where students take coaching and test to prepare for another coaching and test, so on so forth it continues. Each poem is a truthful expression of true feelings. I believe you will like my effort and contribute to my success and satisfaction.
