Description

This book written in simple American English is for general readers.
Interacting with the agents of FBI, police officers from various cities, US Marshals, prison officials, transport security administrators and guardians of port security, the author got a candid idea of the efforts USA is making to prevent another terrorist attack after September 11 incidents on its soil. It has been over 10 years since one of the greatest terrorist attack shook the United States, but since then followed a total revamp of the security arrangements not only within the boundaries of the US, but also influencing activities of the US in various countries across the globe. The new strategies adopted have yielded results & have managed to foil all the attempts of bloodbath by terrorist groups post 9-11.

This book attempts to find out whether the counter terror model adopted by the US is viable (fully or partly) in India or not. The author has chosen 2001 as the reference year for both the countries considering the fact that it was in this year that both USA and India faced unprecedented attacks on their symbols of power.

While evaluating the counter terror strategies, the author has also focused on the attacks on civil liberties that emerge as a “collateral effect” of the investigations in terror related cases. While working on this topic, he came across some heart rendering stories of people who were victimized without having any role in terrorist activities. It is unfortunate that such cases of torture, discrimination & victimization of innocents by investigators have been common both in India & the US.
