The Human Race has always been curious about life, how it originates, how people grow old and why they cannot live forever. Ancient religious texts talk of maharishis who were endowed with very long lives, with anecdotes of some such immortal beings being seen by mortals in India even as late as a few decades back. This narrative combines the growth of a Bank while chronicling the attempts made by a renowned scientist of Indian origin, who returns to his native land to continue with his scientific pursuits of creating artificial life.
The Bank story deals with some activities that happen in a typical, PSU or government owned bank where a lot of external pressure is exerted on all the officials who learn to bow down to the powers that be. Roy is an officer who through sheer grit and cunning, manages to outsmart everyone including the best in the Police Force and join the newest bank in town. This bank, named You&I bank, modern in all aspects of operations, is beset with problems brought on by this ambitious, ruthless individual, who aims for the highest position in the Bank till his plans are upset when he plays his tricks with the formidable Aisha who has been given the title of ‘Lady Killer ‘due to her audacity.
Roy's rise and fall from grace ending in a disgraceful exit from his known world forms the essence of this book.
