KARUNA SHANKAR MISRA
Born on January15 in 1955 at Mainpuri (U.P.). Received his school education in Mainpuri; was awarded M.Sc. (Zoology), B.Ed. and M.Ed. degrees by Agra University; was awarded Ph.D. degree by the University of Rajasthan in 1981. He worked on ‘Effect of Children’s perception of home and school environment on their scientific creativity’ under the supervision of Prof. L.K.Oad of Banasthali Vidyapeeth, Rajasthan. He has 35 years of teaching experience. He worked in D.J. College , Baraut, Banasthali Vidyapeeth and Banaras Hindu University. He worked as Head of Education Department of the University of Allahabad for about 11 years. He also worked as Director of UGC- Academic Staff College of the University of Allahabad and Dean of Faculty of Education of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He has been teaching as Professor in Education since 9.11.1994.
He has completed six research projects financed by UGC, NCERT, and BEP U.P.Govt. Completed six research projects financed by UGC, NCERT, and BEP U.P.Govt. 11 books written by him have been published till now. They are on educational psychology, emotional intelligence, education for exploring policy issues, human rights education, value education, adult education, science education, teachers and their education, scientific creativity, models of teaching and contemporary problems of Indian education. He has constructed 44 Psychological tests for measuring emotional intelligence, learning styles, burn-out, verbal and figural intelligence, Verbal, figural, scientific and emotional creativity, stress among students and teachers, examination stress, learning stress, work motivation among teachers, science processes, scientific attitude, scientific interest, environmental values, environmental moral reasoning, environmental awareness, environmental attitude, classroom environment, family environment, social behavior, mental health, moral judgement, concept formation, conservation ability and learning problems. He has been editing “ Journal of Educational Studies” since 2003. He has contributed more than 75 research papers in the field of education.
He was a member of the Northern Regional Committee of NCTE, DAB of NCERT, New Delhi and Peer Teams of NAAC. He has worked as member of the research advisory committee of State Institute of Educational Management from 1997 to 2012. He has contributed as member in the Boards of Studies and Research Degree Committees of various Central and State universities. He worked as member of UGC Advisory Committee for the SAP Programme of Dept. of Adult and Continuing Education of S.V. University, Tirupati. He was given the award of excellence by the Indian Association of Teacher Educators in 2011 and best psychometrician award of IPERA in 2012.
