Description

A nine-year old girl stumbling upon a terrible secret, a young maidservant trapped in drudgery, children bearing witness to adult transgressions, outcasts of society scrambling to find a place for themselves. These are
six captivating short stories that take you on an Indian Odyssey.

From the North to the South, from the rich to the poor, from children to adults, these tales traverse innocence and experience and the innate tragicomedy of life itself. The breathtaking and varied tableau of the Indian subcontinent is just as much a character in the stories, as the protagonists themselves.

Prepare to be immersed in and become one with each of the characters, as they offer you a glimpse into a life and a landscape far removed from your own. Prepare to journey into a foreign terrain where heat and dust, passions and secrets, beget unforgettable narratives with themes universal and timeless.

About the Author

Always a voracious reader, Poornima started writing at the age of eight and never really stopped, although there were many dry spells.
She found her writing voice in 2009 when a short story of hers placed in an online competition run by The Guardian newspaper. Having re-discovered her first love, she started her online blog at www.poornimamanco.wordpress.com.
Initially, she published many of her stories, thoughts and musings there. In 2018, she decided to take a leap of faith into Indie publishing and compiled her stories into two separate books as a part of a trilogy. She is currently at work on the third book of short stories.
Most of her tales are set in India as her formative years were spent there. Born and brought up in New Delhi, she moved to the United Kingdom in her twenties. Yet, she has never been able to cut the umbilical cord that ties her to her birthplace.
She loves reading, travelling and the company of good friends. She is married and has two teenage daughters.
