Professor Purnendu Ghosh is the Executive Director of Birla Institute of Scientific Research, Jaipur. He has worked at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi; Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich, Switzerland; University of Melbourne, Australia; National Research Centre for Biotechnology (GBF), Braunschweig, Germany. In the past four decades, he has taken a lead role in augmenting bioprocess engineering and biotechnology activities in the country. He is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, and currently it’s Vice President. Besides research publications, he has written/edited several books in different genre. Professor Ghosh writes in English, Hindi and Bengali. Some of his books are: The rising sun, Neural suitcase, Ethics of the chair, Looking into the mirror, Magic of the morning sun, Biotechnology in India, Mind of an engineer, Engineering of life and life technologies.
