Literary criticism of any work provides perspective to the readers; because of lack of appropriate criticism, dalit literature has been neglected. Through this work the author attempted critically analyse the first dalit autobiographies, namely Baluta (1978/2015) and Government Brahmana (1994/2007) that initiated tradition of expression of lived lives. On the one hand, this book is a literary criticism of dalit literature in general and dalit autobiography in particular; and on the other it is encouragement of critics to look at dalit literature also as they see towards so-called mainstream literature.
