This text (second edition) not only introduces orthodox Advaita as a theological discipline, it also introduces two contemporary theories bordering on metaphysics - one about consciousness and the other about cyclic cosmology. These theories are presented to see if Advaita's conception of consciousness, aggregation, and cyclicity finds any insightful meeting points within their metaphysics.
The introductory narrative of orthodox Advaita is retained as it is, except the addition of few notes and digressions to extend its scope or to make an interesting point related to the topic. The bibliography is enhanced and divided into two parts - one related to theology and tradition and the other about science and metaphysics. An exhaustive alphabetical index is added at the end to enable the reader to locate a key word or a concept within the body of the text.
The text is expected (a) to serve as an introduction to Advaita for the modern student of theology; and (b) to place "non-dualism" within the present day philosophical discourse of social justice, consciousness, and cosmology.
