Description of "Valley of Flowers"
Valley of Flowers is a short novel that fights to move, entertain and enlighten. The story opens in the famed Valley of Flowers, or garden of the gods in N. India. It follows the trek of a 17-year-old Indian youth, who is made to go up into the Himalayas to give his 'ego a death.' The initial crisis begins when he interrupts his father to tell him good news. Once in the mountains he is forced to deal with his created ill thoughts and feelings, along with the terrible tortures of Mother Nature. Valley of Flowers is ethical fiction and is meant for the classroom. Eastern philosophy features, in the form of the holy texts the Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita. VOF comes in at 125 pages.
