"The Second Choice" is my first tryst with Lakshmi Menon writing.
Here, life's rich experience have a way of unfurling in apt words under her deft handling. She captivates readers instantly with a plot brewing with emotions. she has an ability to hold her thought well without dramatic settings. The novel delves deep to touch chords with women; A depth that comes from a keen observation and a flow that is like an echo of an outpour by its involved readers.
A start to finish read, with nuances you can identify in a man -woman relationship.

“The Second Choice” is the touching story of a blended family. Pavithra, a young widow with a daughter, and Venu a man with an invalid wife, who also has a daughter, are forced into a marriage of convenience. They realise that partnership parenting is no cake walk. The ‘wicked stepmother myth’ plays spoilt sport, making Pavithra’s life miserable. But her patience and love finally pay off.
The story is told in a simple but compelling style. It propels the reader forward into an unexpected but incredible climax.
