Description of "Six Months in India"
Six Months in India started out as a series of journal entries that I made while on a 6 month stay in India. I had always wanted to be a wandering yogi, and since my extended family lives there, I decided to drop everything and go. This book speaks about the lives of Hindus from an American perspective, but one of Indian origin. It is very candid and open, as I describe festivals, ashrams, cultural directives, and such things, giving "the good, the bad, and the ugly" about everything I encounter.
The purpose of the book is both to entertain readers in a humorous way, but also to inform and teach about where yoga comes from, and the original context that gave birth to it, before it became such a phenomenon in the West.
