ISBN and copyright have nothing to do with each other. ISBN is an attempt to catalog all published books and it makes no statement whatsoever about the copyright. Getting an ISBN is not equivalent to registering a copyright, nor is it necessary to get an ISBN to claim copyright. There should be no confusion here - ISBN and copyright are absolutely independent of each other.
