Measurement is an important subsystem of a mechatronics system. Its main function is to
collect the information on system status and to feed it to the micro-processors for controlling
the whole system. Measurement system comprises of sensors, transducers and signal
processing devices. Sensors in manufacturing are basically employed to automatically carry
out the production operations as well as process monitoring activities. Sensor technology has
the following important advantages in transforming a conventional manufacturing unit into a
modern one.

About the Authors

Dr. N. K. Choudhari
Dr. N. K. Choudhari, Principal of Priyadarshini Bhagwati College of Engineering, Nagpur, holds a B.E., M.Tech., and Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering. With an extensive teaching and administrative experience spanning over 32 years, Dr. Choudhari has made significant contributions to the academic and institutional landscape. His excellence has been recognized through numerous awards, including being featured in the 2009 edition of Who's Who by Marquis, and receiving the Vidya Ratan Award from The Economic for Health and Educational Growth, New Delhi, in December 2012. He was also honored with the Best Principal Award by the International Institute of Education & Management, New Delhi (July 2015), and by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University on September 5, 2015. Further, he was recognized as an Outstanding Leader in Higher Education at the Elets Education Innovation Summit held in Pune on December 10, 2022.
