High-Performance Computing (HPC) refers to the use of supercomputers and parallel
processing techniques for solving complex computational problems at high speeds and with
high accuracy. According to Dongarra et al. (2003), HPC involves aggregating computing
power in a way that delivers much higher performance than one could get out of a typical
desktop or workstation, thereby enabling the solution of large-scale problems in science,
engineering, and business.
