Description

Conocarpus is a genus of flowering plants in the family Combretaceae. This
genus is native to tropical and subtropical regions, particularly in Africa, Asia,
and the Arabian Peninsula. Conocarpus species are commonly known as
"buttonwood" or "mangrove buttonwood," though they are not true
mangroves. The most commonly cultivated species is Conocarpus erectus,
also known as the “green buttonwood” or “desert buttonwood,” which is a
hardy, salt-tolerant tree. Its unique ability to thrive in various environmental
conditions has led to its widespread use in landscaping, particularly in arid and
coastal areas.
