Bina – A Transgender’s Journey follows the life of Sasha, a young transgender person from Manipur, who flees an abusive home in search of freedom and belonging in Calcutta. On the run, Sasha finds refuge among Hijra elders, sex workers, and queer friends who offer fragile safety in the city’s hidden corners.

Drawn into cycles of exploitation, betrayal, and violence at the hands of corrupt police and manipulative lovers, Sasha drifts through call centres, cramped rentals, and nightclubs, caught between the promise of love and the reality of survival. Over time, Sasha’s identity fractures and reforms — from Sasha, to Bem, to Bina — each name carrying the scars of what was lost and what had to be endured.
