Description

NEAR MISSES
By Muhammed Farhan Shaikh
One night. Four lives. A city on the edge.
Mumbai, November 26, 2008.
As the city buzzes with its usual energy, four lives are quietly shifting.
Ajay reconnects with an old classmate and wonders if fate is giving him a second shot at love.
Simran and Pranav, stuck in a cold marriage, are one conversation away from rediscovery-or collapse.
Three best friends plan their long-postponed escape to Goa, unaware how close they are to something
far more life-altering.
And Anita, chasing success in Mumbai, forgets what truly matters-until it's almost too late.
By the time the night ends, Mumbai will be changed forever.
And so will they.
Set against the backdrop of the 26/11 attacks, Near Misses is a powerful story of chance, love, loss, and
the invisible threads that guide us. A tribute to the city that survived-and to every heartbeat that
almost didn't.
Sometimes the biggest miracles are the ones that nearly didn't happen.

About the Author

Muhammed Farhan Shaikh is a civil engineer by profession and a storyteller at heart. Born and raised in Mumbai, he grew up surrounded by the city’s vibrant chaos, everyday resilience, and quiet beauty — elements that breathe through the pages of his writing.

Near Misses, his debut novel, is deeply personal — inspired by true events, lived experiences, and his own 13th birthday celebration on 26th November 2008, the night tragedy struck Mumbai. While the city bled, Farhan was among the fortunate ones — spared by a twist of fate. That memory never left him. This book is both a tribute and a release.

Farhan writes with a love for characters that feel real, and a fascination for the small, invisible choices that can change lives. He believes fiction is where empathy grows, and where stories can heal what news headlines often cannot.

He currently lives in Dublin, Ireland,...
